Be miserable.

Or motivate yourself.

Whatever has to be done, it’s always your choice.

I was meeting with a client the other day when she asked an interesting question. “What causes you to become discouraged?”

Her question was intriguing  because I had been asked a similar question a few weeks ago, only that time the query went something like this:

“Deanna, come on. You can’t be happy all the time. Be honest. Aren’t there times you just become overwhelmed with the circumstances and want to throw in the towel?”

The truth is there absolutely are things, events, and people who can make me crazy. Suck the life right out of me. Make me want to pull out my hair. Put me in a spiral of despair . . . if I let them. My life. My choice. My response.

Some days are easy, breezy, beautiful. Some days are dark, depressing, and difficult. I can’t choose what the day brings. I can, however, choose my response.

I am absolutely in control of my attitude.  I own it.

Bad attitude? Good attitude? Happy? Miserable?

You choose. Each response. Every day. Every time.

“The greatest part of our happiness
depends on our dispositions,
not our circumstances.”
Martha Washington

Whatever you are, it’s your choice! Make it a good one.
